Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum is the Soviet’s answer to F-16. The twin-engine jet appeared in the early 80s and initially was very secret subject, gaining both awe and interest in the West. However, with the fall of the Soviet Union, examples became accessible to the western specialists and that reveled the true colors of the aircraft to the westerners.
MiG-29 9-13 is a development of the initial version of the aircraft that became popular in the Warsaw Pact countries – 9-11. MiG-29 9-13 featured some improvements over the original design, however still not being enough to present a real threat to the F-16 and F-15. Due to its very short range, spartan cockpit and smoky engines, MiG-29 Fulcrum never became the real foe to the West’s 4th generation jets.
